Drawn from collections worldwide, the presentation spans over fifteen years of Eliasson's career. His constructions, at once eccentric and highly geometric, use multicolored washes, focused projections of light, mirrors, and elements such as water, stone, and moss to shift the viewer's perception of place and self. By transforming the gallery into a hybrid space of nature and culture, Eliasson prompts an intensive engagement with the world and offers a fresh consideration of everyday life. The Museum of Modern Art, 11 West 53 Street, New York, NY 10019-5497. KIRSTEN JUSTESEN AT VIEW AT P.S.1 (February 17, 2008 - May 12, 2008) Exhibition: “WACK! Art and the Feminist Revolution” is the title of the P.S.1 Contemporary Art Center exhibition examining the international foundations and legacy of feminist art. The exhibition spans the period of 1965 to 1980, but has a particular focus on the crucial period of the 1970s, during which the majority of feminist activism and artmaking occurred internationally. Danish artist Kirsten Justesen is featuring her 1968 piece Sculptur II. Justesen was part of the avant-garde scene of the 1960s, where she became a pioneering figure within the three-dimensional modes of art that incorporate the artist's own body as artistic material. These experiments led her in the direction of the so-called feminist art which challenged traditional value systems during the 1970s. Her later works constitute broader investigations of relationships between body, space, and language. Opening February 17 P.S.1 Contemporary Art Center 22-25 Jackson Ave at the intersection of 46th Ave, Long Island City, 11101. The purpose of DaNY Arts is to foster new ways to approach and implement international cultural exchange. The goal is to create opportunities for artists and art institutions in Denmark and New York to establish new connections, explore the process of artistic collaboration, and mutually benefit from each other’s background and experience. Although new works of art will certainly result, the focus of DaNY Arts will be on the collaborative process itself. For further information about the development of the various DaNY Arts projects please visit the DaNY Arts work-in-progress Calendar: www.danisharts.info/ff70029
